Door hinges basically allow the door to open and close, over time they
can become worn and cause the door to sag or "stick" making it difficult
to operate. The hinges are fairly simple in nature, there is the steel
portions attached to the door and body and held together with a steel
pin. The pin rides inside of softer bushings that will wear out first.
The steel pin can wear down, bend or even brake. The door is held open
with the detent cam located on the top hinge. This too has parts that
can fail. The detent pin is stationary with a bearing on one end that
allows the steel cam to move. This bearing can become frozen or worn.
