Compost headlight: Usually has a plastic lens, uses small replaceable bulbs, conforms to the shape of the vehicle. Started showing up in the mid 80's

Sealed beam headlight: Usually has glass lens, round or square shaped and the entire unit is disposable, used on the first cars thru mid 80's however is still used on some "work" trucks and vans
